The storyboarding has begun for the film version of “Second Life” and we are putting together a brilliant team to produce it. The fantastic news is that “India Mill” the band who did the theme tune for the radio demo have agreed to let us use their fantastic work “Caribesque” for the film. The tune had the perfect edgy mystery about it and the new version is even better. Once storyboarding is complete we will be meeting the band to put together incidental music for the film itself. In the meantime there are exciting rumblings around the sponsorship of the project from some names… Say no more.

The Festival Season

Its that time of year when decisions have to be made about performances in the regular round of festivals etc. Subject to confirmation we hope to be performing 7/7 live on the 7th July 2011 as part of the “Not Part Of” festival. There are also plans to present a video/drama/game version of “Second Life” as part of the Chorlton Arts Festival this year. The radio show is going to be setting up its livestream TV channel with highlights from the show and some of the great artists we have on performing. As part of that a very different version of the “Beechfest” charity music festival is returning this year. All those plans are in the early stages at the moment but definately in the pipeline. As you may know we have been very concerned for the welfare of Marc after the Israeli attack on the aid flotilla. We knew he was on board but that was all. He was the filmmaker who made the incredible documentary about the young man featured in 5/7/7 the play. At last we have word and we hope to speak to him soon on the radio show about his experiences.

Hello My Friend.. Please excuse me,I have not been online in 6weeks. I have been in Saron jail in Israel since the Flotilla attack. I left Israel on monday morning and am now home. Thank you for your concern,so much. Its superb to be home. Mike. We as a group were robbed of cash,equipment and personal items. Our treatment was was a disgrace. I’m only seeing what the Israelis were saying for trying to try and play it down. Where can i see the play Mike? thank you for caring support.

Buzz him in!

We are well chuffed to say that Buzz Hawkins will be playing the part of the Proffessor in the soon to be recorded radio version of “The Wait”. This takes over from the brilliant job done by Charlie Mortimer in the stage version. Buzz of course is the voice behind the very funny radio comedy show “The Bradshaws“ You may also know some of the stuff he has produced though!

Like: The latest TV series of “Comedians” and “Stuart`s Hall Of Fame” on Granada. He also wrote many sketches, for the “Grumbleweeds“ Of course the Bradshawes is never off air and even plays every Sunday morning on The Gloria Swanson Fan Club on WFM 97.2fm Buzz was twice nominated for the Sony Award for “The Best Use Of Comedy On Radio“ There yer go. 5 7/7 The Radio Version

5 7/7 made an impressive impact on the audience when it was performed live as part of the Chorlton Arts Festival. This powerful and moving story follows the life of a Palestinian man caught up in the events of the London bombings of 2005 and what happens as a result of his chance meeting with a troubled young English girl. The following day it was performed live in the studio and broadcast on Chorlton Arts Radio. The events described in the play and the actual dialogue were taken from an incredible documentary made by a man called Marc Antonio. In it he followed the life of a thirteen year old boy called mohammed Rashid whose family suffered as part of the Israeli occupation. It was days later we learned that Marc is aboard the Gaza aid convoy attacked by the Israeli military killing at least 10 people. We are waiting for news that Marc is well but in the meantime we are privileged that with his blessing we were able to broadcast this production last week.

We wait and hope

We finally got through a myriad of wrong dates on the programme cast changes and censorship to finally perform live on Thursday and on Chorlton Arts radio on the Friday. We have had a fantastic reaction from everyone who saw the performances and we hope to be back soon. The radio version will also be available on-line so keep checking back here. Unfortunately our last message from Marc described how busy he was working on the peace flotilla taking much needed aid to Gaza. We have this morning woken up to the sad news that the Israeli army have boarded the peace convoy killing at least 15 people. Its going to be some time before we are able to confirm he is ok but we pray he is.

The show goes on

It looks like the show goes on after a number of venues became nervous about the title. Interestingly none of them knew anything about the plot or content but still chose to turn the show away. It now looks like we will be going ahead as part of the Chorlton Arts Festival after all but with a new name. JIHAD will now be known as 5 7/7. We have not been asked to change any of the content but everyone seems a lot more comfortable with a different name. The fantastic news is that Charlie Mortimer will be directing and we will be casting in the coming week or two. Our performance date is now 27th May at the Chorlton Irish Centre. We are also hoping to record a radio version which will be available here and played on air as part of the Festival’s very own station program.

We’re in the Money

This is the working title for a new production currently being written by Michael Dawson and Jane Barnes. We are working in support of the brilliant Theatre Royal Hyde and many like it which are threatened with permanent closure. It is currently a listed building and an organisation of local residents are desperate to see the theatre re opened and restored to its former glory. This story is typical of these fantastic pieces of architecture that stand derelict up and down the country. To find out more about the theatres progress or to support them just click here. On the 7^th July 2005 London’s rush hour was rocked by a series devastating explosions. In the ensuing investigation four British Muslims were named in the plot but rumours still exist to this day of a 5^th man. Based on fact this is the story of how he spent the last 40 minutes before the first bombs exploded at 8.50am that morning.

Three thugs meet their client at a remote location to carry out a hit. The client is a 76-year-old man who insists his victim will be here at precisely 9 minutes past midnight. The team begin to question has sanity when he reveals that the victim is a man he last saw 40 years ago who is only 26 years of age?
